Eric Lukosus, D.C., ACRB Level 1, Cert. MDT., CCSP

Dr. Eric LukosusDr. Lukosus is the owner and clinic director of Illinois Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation.

Dr. Lukosus graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1997.  This was the just beginning of his training.  Just like any athlete training to get better he has dedicated his practice to achieving the best results for his patients by continuing to educate himself with the best techniques and evidence in musculoskeletal care.

Illinois Spinal and Sports Rehabilitation was founded on the principle that every patient just like every injury is unique and deserves specialized attention.  The care we are able to deliver sets us apart by identifying the patient's needs and concerns with our team of chiropractors, therapists, clinical massage therapists.  We will work together to reach your goals in the shortest amount of time.  We strive to get the patient out of pain as quickly as possible and educate the patient about their condition offering exercise and self-treatment stategies for them to better manage their condition.  Our individualized treatment strategies are for everyone whether you work in front of a computer all day or are an Olympic athlete.

Dr. Lukosus has obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians™ (ACBSP™ http://acbsp.com/) and completed his training at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The CCSP® certification requires the doctor to attend a minimum of 100 hours of a 120 hour postgraduate program.  This instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports.  Following  the completion of these hours, the doctor must then take and successfully pass a  comprehensive written examination.

This training will aid the doctor in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries by enhancing his diagnostic skills and patient care.  The CCSP®  accreditation exists to provide a uniform standard of education that assures teams and athletes that the doctor has met a minimum level of competency in chiropractic sports medicine.  Dr. Lukosus joins over 4500 others internationally who hold this designation.

Dr. Lukosus has a postgraduate degree level one of the American Board of Chiropractic Rehabilitation (http://acrb.org). This is a professional organization dedicated to providing continuing education and training for chiropractors who wish to offer their patients the latest treatments and evidence-based rehabilitation techniques.

Unique to his profession Dr. Lukosus is certified in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (http://mckenziemdt.org).  McKenzie Therapy is a diagnostic and treatment technique that addresses pathology within the spine by using mechanical evaluation.  Treatments are also mechanical in nature using specific movements to reduce pain and aid in healing.  There are less than 100 chiropractors in the world with this designation.

Dr. Lukosus has traveled in support of some of our nations top wrestlers.  He has served as team chiropractor for the New York Athletic Club at the World Team Trials in 2007, 2009, and the Olympic Trials in 2008.  Since 2001 he has served as the team chiropractor for Overtime School of Wrestling (http://overtimewrestling.com).

Dr. Eric Asks some important questions of interest to Naperville residents - Chiropractor Naperville Dr. Eric Asks...

What causes subluxations?
Chiropractors acknowledge three types of stress: physical, chemical and emotional. When the adaptive capacity of your body is compromised, weakened areas along the spine can become involved. Muscles tighten, spinal joints lock up and nearby nerves are affected. The purpose of chiropractic care is to find these areas and restore balance, alignment and motion.
Is a muscle spasm a cause or an effect?
With the knee-jerk use of muscle relaxers, you'd think it was a cause. But it's an effect. Chiropractors know that bones don't move unless muscles move them. And muscles don't contract unless commanded by the nervous system. That's why your nervous system is the focus of our Naperville chiropractic practice.
